Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin said after the game that he was responsible for the play that essentially sealed Washington's 38-33 road victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.

With the Commanders leading 31-26 and just over two minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter, rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to McLaurin, who extended the lead to 12 yards and put the game virtually out of reach.

Speaking to reporters afterward, McLaurin said he spoke with Daniels and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury during a timeout about calling a go route and giving him the opportunity to end the game:

“During the timeout, I said, 'Kliff, give me a go route to the boundary for the play.' I called it. And I went to Kliff and Jayden and said, 'Throw me that ball for the play.' For them to have that much confidence in me, that was maybe one of the first times in my career where the game was on the line and I could go up there and call that play and we executed it at a very high level.”
