Conceicao stunner nets 10-man Juventus win in Leipzig

A superb solo goal from Francisco Conceicao eight minutes from time gave 10-man Juventus a 3-2 win at RB Leipzig in a wild game on Wednesday.

Juventus lost two players, including captain Gleison Bremer, to injury in the first 12 minutes. Twice they fell behind through goals from Benjamin Sesko and twice they equalized through Dusan Vlahovic, the second goal being a powerful shot well outside the penalty area.

The visitors were reduced to ten men after 59 minutes when goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio passed outside the penalty area but continued to attack until Conceicao dribbled into the heart of Leipzig's defense and fired the ball into the goal.

The victory maintains Juventus' unbeaten start in all competitions under Thiago Motta, while also ensuring the second of two goals in the Champions League.

Juventus traveled to Germany as the only team that had not yet conceded a goal in the league this season. Their only goal in the minus column came in stoppage time in the confident 3-1 opening game of the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven.

Juve's ambitions suffered an early setback when captain Bremer and striker Nicolas Gonzalez were ruled out with injuries in the first quarter of an hour.

Bremer's injury was particularly worrying for the visitors as the Brazilian held onto his leg before being helped off the pitch following a collision with Openda.

The visitors were strong early on and had their best chance in the 30th minute, but the missed opportunity would come back to haunt them.

Nicolo Fagioli fired a shot into the goal and Vlahovic got to the ball but was denied by Peter Gulasci, who collected the ball and sent Leipzig on the counterattack.

Gulacsi found David Raum, who fired a sliding direct pass forward, and Openda, who did the same to Sesko.

The 1.95 meter tall Slovenian jumped up to collect the ball, let it bounce and then shot into the goal off the underside of the crossbar.

With Juventus trailing and needing an equalizer, they pushed forward early in the second half and equalized when Vlahovic met a low cross from Andrea Cambiaso with his foot and curled the ball past a helpless Gulacsi.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men and then fell behind again in a bizarre six-minute spell when the VAR found Di Gregorio had been handled outside the penalty area and then awarded Leipzig a penalty, this time for a handball inside the box .

Sesko shot forward but the game took a turn just five minutes later when Vlahovic unleashed an incredible curling shot from outside the box into the top corner.

Conceicao's individual effort gave the visitors the lead and they were able to hold on through nine minutes of added time despite numerous Leipzig attacks.

Despite a spirited performance, Leipzig have now suffered two defeats out of two at the start of their European campaign.
