Dak Prescott, Cowboys get 'huge' win over Giants but can't 'get overly excited about what we did'

It was Dallas' 14th win in the last 15 meetings in the one-sided rivalry, with Prescott now having beaten New York in 13 consecutive starts. According to NFL Research, this is the second-longest QB winning streak against a single opponent since 1950.

Prescott was outstanding on the night, completing 22 of 27 passes for 221 yards, touchdowns to Rico Dowdle and CeeDee Lamb and a 125.5 rating.

However, in terms of wins, it was hardly a work of art.

It looked like Prescott's 55-yard scoring strike with Lamb would light up the offense, but with 9:16 left in the first half it was Dallas' last trip to the end zone.

And so it is said that Thursday's win was as much a relief as anything else, but also an indication that there is still a lot of work to do.

“At the end of the day, like I said, even after the two losses in the last two weeks, it’s a process,” Prescott said. “So we're not going to get complacent, we're not going to get overly upset about what we did tonight. It's about building and figuring out what we can do better at all stages. But it’s a lot easier to do that after a win.”

That message was echoed by head coach Mike McCarthy: The Cowboys needed a win, and they're happy with that, but they need to get better.

“I mean, winning is always a great thing, especially away from home. Away wins are the best because the games will add another layer,” McCarthy said, “so I feel great about what we achieved tonight, but I think for.” “For the fourth week in a row we've been “It’s clear that we still have a lot of work to do.”

This work is in preparation for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5. It's likely that Dallas will face a tougher defensive game, and Prescott knows his offense can't simply rely on Brandon Aubrey's field goals like it did on Thursday was the case in the second half.

“It didn’t end the way we wanted, not to our standard,” Prescott said. “We left it up to our defense, credit to those guys for finishing it and not allowing any touchdowns, but we're an offense that can finish better and score more touchdowns than we did tonight. So this is what we have.’ We need to look at ourselves in the mirror and get this done.
