Damaging storms are possible across southeastern Minnesota Wednesday afternoon

October was a wild ride! Earlier this month, forecasters warned us that Minnesota would be in for a “roller coaster ride,” and they were right. We've experienced temperatures ranging from the low 60s to 80s, with a really nice warm spell recently. But the nice weather won't last on Halloween, so kids will have to bundle up in their costumes before heading out trick-or-treating.

A cold front is heading our way, bringing with it a sharp drop in temperature and the possibility of severe storms. Read the latest update from the National Weather Service below.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse is urging residents in southeastern Minnesota to pay attention to the weather today and be prepared to seek shelter if storms approach.

The NWS says a cold front will move through early Wednesday afternoon, producing strong to severe storms between 2 p.m. and midnight.

Hail and damaging winds threaten southeast Minnesota

The biggest threats from these storms are hail and damaging winds. If you find yourself near the storm, it's a good idea to secure your trash cans, patio furniture, and any other outdoor items before the wind picks up.

These storms will primarily impact areas along and south of Interstate 90.
