Despite Mother Nature, the pushers flock to Arrowhead

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KCTV) – Rain and wind aren't stopping the Red Kingdom from supporting its chiefs. Despite hours of rain forecast, fans were already stumbling before sunrise on Monday morning.

Kansas City will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday, November 4th at 7:15 p.m. CST. Gates to the parking lot open at 2:30 p.m. with a 90% chance of rain.

The chance of wet weather doesn't deter die-hard Chiefs fans, with dozens lining up before 5 a.m. Tom Garrison is one of the regulars outside Gate 5, known as the “gatekeeper” for the tailgate group that calls themselves “Gate 5 Wingnutz.” Garrusib said he was more worried about the wind than the rain. “The wind is the only thing we worry about. It can be difficult to hold tents in the wind, but I don't really see any problems. It’s supposed to be fun.”

Other Brits said neither was a problem for them as the tents were anchored to the ground to withstand the elements.

“I cooked pork chops on the charcoal grill in the rain last night, that’s not stopping us,” Zachary Weigelt said. “It might be a little more challenging, but we’ll get there.”

Small, compact umbrellas are permitted in Arrowhead. However, once fans are seated, the umbrella must remain closed. Seat cushions are also permitted, but must not have pockets, zippers, or compartments.

The full list of permitted and prohibited items can be found here.
