Disney World closes some experiences due to Hurricane Helene

As Hurricane Helene approaches Florida, Disney World has decided to close some experiences as a precautionary measure for the safety of its guests.

The storm is expected to make landfall in the Big Bend area on Thursday with devastating Category 4 winds of 130 mph.

While airlines are working to inform travelers about delays or changes to flights to destinations within the planned route or affected region, other businesses such as theme parks have also announced adjusted hours and operations.

“Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions; however, some experiences will be canceled or unavailable on September 26,” the company said in a statement. “We are closely monitoring the progress of the storm as the safety of our guests and employees remains our top priority.”

To prepare guests for the weather event, Disney World has updated its weather alerts website and posted the following list with details of changes in the parks and resort.

Below is a snapshot of the storm's impact so far.

Walt Disney World Water Parks

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park will be temporarily closed on Thursday, September 26th.

Beachcomber Shack (Cabanas) and Typhoon Lagoon umbrella rentals are cancelled for Thursday, September 26th.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Outdoor entertainment has been cancelled due to the weather forecast for Thursday, September 26. Guests who have purchased tickets will receive a refund.

Mini golf

Walt Disney World Resort miniature golf courses will be temporarily closed Thursday, including: Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf and Winter Summerland Miniature Golf.

Pools at Disney Resort Hotels

At the time of publication, Disney Resort pools will continue to operate under normal conditions and will remain closed.

Disney's Animal Kingdom

Due to the storm, Enchanting Extras Collection experiences have also been cancelled, including: Savor the Savanna, Up Close with Rhinos, Walking with Giants and Wild Africa Trek.
