Do you suffer from election anxiety?

Do you suffer from election anxiety?

We will post your comments on Tuesday evening as they come in

play

After months of campaign visits, countless television ads and a mountain of political mailings, Wisconsin voters had their say on Tuesday.

The results will be closely watched because Wisconsin is one of eight swing states that could determine who becomes the next president. Adding to the interest is a U.S. Senate race that could shift control of the upper house to Republicans if Republican challenger Eric Hovde defeats incumbent Tammy Baldwin, a Democrat seeking her third term.

Now it's time to wait and see how the results come in. We won't know the result until early Wednesday because there are delays in the city of Milwaukee's processing of postal votes. In the meantime, vote in our poll and share your thoughts on the 2024 campaign.

Election fear could become the buzzword of the year

At the beginning of the year, we expected the presidential race to be between an incumbent octogenarian and a 78-year-old challenger. Joe Biden was a bombshell in a debate against Donald Trump in June, insisted he would stay in the race despite calls for his resignation, and then dropped out of the race in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump survived an assassination attempt just days before accepting the Republican nomination in Milwaukee. That was in July and August alone.

The first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris erupted over a false claim that Haitian immigrants in Ohio eat pets. Things only went downhill from there. Wisconsin has been at the forefront as presidential candidates and their running mate have made more than 40 stops in Wisconsin since mid-July.

Along the way, a new phrase was added to the linguistic lexicon: “election anxiety.” Can anyone blame us?
