Dodgers NLDS schedule: LA vs. Padres in Division Series, 3rd in 5 years

For the fifth consecutive year, the Dodgers will face a team from the National League West in the National League Division Series. This year the Padres will face the Dodgers in the NLDS for the third time in the last five years.

Two weeks ago, the Dodgers won a series over the Padres to clinch the division at Dodger Stadium. In order for Los Angeles to advance to the National League Championship Series, they must beat the Padres in another series.

San Diego secured its spot in the NLDS by defeating the Braves in two games of the Wild Card Series at Petco Park. The Dodgers, who finished with the best record in baseball (98-64), five games ahead of the Padres, earned a bye and will have home-field advantage throughout the NLDS (as well as any round they could play this October).

Earlier Wednesday, Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said Jack Flaherty will start Game 1 for the Dodgers on Saturday, while Yoshinobu Yamamoto will pitch Game 2 on Sunday.

The first two games of the NLDS begin at night, with Game 1 starting at 5:38 p.m. and Game 2 starting at 5:03 p.m. PT on Sunday.

San Diego won the season series against the Dodgers eight games to five. They split six games at Dodger Stadium, including Los Angeles winning the last two games on September 25th and 26th and thus secured relegation. The Padres were 4-1 against the Dodgers at Petco Park this season, and the two clubs split the first two games of the season in Seoul, South Korea.

These two teams have met twice in the playoffs, with the Dodgers defeating the Padres 3-0 in the 2020 NLDS at the neutral site of Globe Life Field in Texas and the Padres getting revenge by winning the 2022 NLDS three games to one.

This is the fifth straight season the Dodgers have played a true division series in the NLDS. They beat the Giants in five games in 2021 and lost to the D-Backs in 2023.
