Early voting in Fort Bend County exceeds 2020 numbers

More than 180,000 voters in Fort Bend County have already cast ballots in person during the first week of early voting, county data shows.

Fort Bend County data shows 182,156 ballots have been cast as of Oct. 27 for the Nov. 5 general election, accounting for nearly 33% of the county's 555,569 registered voters.

This surpasses the November 2020 general election, where 128,846 ballots were cast in the first week of early voting, according to the Texas Secretary of State's website. In the 2020 election, 73.65% of the county's registered voters cast ballots throughout the entire election.

In addition, voter turnout in this election also exceeds the 172,081 votes cast in the early voting midway through 2020, when more voting days were allocated due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Looking ahead

According to Fort Bend County's website, registered voters have until Nov. 1 to cast their ballot at any of the county's 32 early voting locations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
