Election Day 2024 live updates: When do the polls close, voting issues, absentee ballot results, key races for NY, NJ and CT

The Board of Elections identified a problem at some voting locations in Queens on Tuesday.

At PS 164 in Flushing, voters reported problems scanning their ballots. We were told that the machines would spit out the ballots immediately and in some cases voters would just have to cast the ballots.

According to the election committee, an emergency container was used. It's unclear exactly how long this took, but the board says every vote will be counted.

The BOE issued a statement saying: “Technicians were dispatched immediately and corrective action was taken. Out of an abundance of caution, we inspected all 290 locations in Queens.”

Voters were not affected, aside from additional attempts to scan their ballot or have it placed in the emergency bin per protocol, the BOE said.

At PS 36 in the St. Albans section of Queens, Eyewitness News found a stable voter line late Tuesday morning, but that line, we learn, wasn't moving well earlier, when the site first opened.

A poll worker told us that one of the computer tablets used for early voting was misconfigured. The election board had to send a technician to fix the problem. But workers on site say this caused a problem for about an hour and a half as they were “unable to serve the voter.”
