Executive Voice: Clint Overby, VP of ESPN Events: The Peraton Armed Forces Classic returns on November 4, 2025 with two traditional women's basketball programs

The ESPN Events Peraton Armed Forces Classic 2025 will host the first-ever women's college basketball match on November 4, 2025 at Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany. This 10th edition opens the 2025-26 season with a historic matchup between top programs UConn and Louisville.

Ramstein Air Force Base, which hosted the inaugural Armed Forces Classic in 2012 and 2017, is once again working closely with ESPN to transform the setting for the event. That effort includes converting a hangar into a basketball arena, with the base working hand-in-hand with ESPN to clear and prepare the space for the broadcast-worthy venue we see on TV. This collaborative project not only introduces the game, but also immerses participants in the unique experience of life on base and allows them to interact directly with active personnel and their families.

With the return of Peraton as title sponsor, the event will continue its legacy of honoring the military community. UConn's Huskies bring a storied history to this global stage with 11 NCAA titles under the leadership of legendary coach Geno Auriemma. Auriemma, who is closing in on the all-time wins record, spoke about the honor of interacting with military members, saying, “I'm thrilled that we have this opportunity to play for our military members in person.” It will be a great experience for everyone involved will be an unforgettable experience.”

The Louisville Cardinals, one of only 27 programs to reach 1,000 wins, are pleased with this tribute to military members. “We are grateful to be a part of this event and want to showcase women's basketball to our country's heroes abroad,” said coach Jeff Walz.

This special Armed Forces classic is part of ESPN's America's Heroes: Salute to Veterans initiative, which includes a week of programming in honor of Veterans Day. The 2025 edition is a tribute to both the growing importance of women's sports and the sacrifice of U.S. military personnel stationed abroad.
