Fall 2024: Check out these 7 dining options during San Francisco Restaurant Week

San Francisco Restaurant Week is back with its fall edition, taking place between Friday November 8th and Sunday November 17th, treating locals to lunch, brunch and dinner offerings. It's the biennial event designed to entice guests to try a new restaurant, bar or café while saving your wallet.

There are offerings in all neighborhoods, including some out-of-town offerings like Sushi Ran in Sausalito and Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ in San Jose. Treat yourself to fine dining with deals at Epic Steak, Sushi Shio and Flour + Water, returning to Restaurant Week for the first time in years. Try brunch at the new Early to Rise with a helping of Eggs Benedict or strawberry pancakes, or try Malaysian fried chicken or whole Dungeness crab at Damansara.

In addition to a week of restaurant offerings, Eat Drink SF is also hosting two events during SFRW: a cocktail party at Cold Drinks Bar and Gold Mountain Lounge on Thursday, November 14th, and a closing brunch at Wayfare Tavern on Sunday, November 17th. Further information and reservation options can be found at Eatdrink-sf.com.)

However, if you're having trouble deciding between the many places to eat, here are some standout restaurants in a variety of price ranges.

Brenda's Soul Food

Lunch and dinner: $35, $45

A tribute to her hometown of New Orleans, chef Brenda Buenviajé's restaurant has been a Polk Street staple since it opened in 2007, and this year the restaurant is offering a tempting lunch and dinner menu. Those who haven't been to the restaurant should check out the $35 option, a “Creole Sampler Platter” not otherwise available on the menu. The meal includes a cup of chicken and andouille sausage gumbo; a cup of red beans and rice; fried catfish; Hushpuppies; and kale with bacon. For $45, guests can get a seafood-laden bowl of gumbo with shrimp, blue crab meat, andouille sausage, okra, chicken and Dungeness crab. The second course of both meals guarantees a simple beignet and the choice between a glass of wine or beer. Reservations can be made on the restaurant's website. 652 Polk Street, San Francisco

Dalida is chefs Laura and Sayat Ozyilmaz's Eastern Mediterranean restaurant in the picturesque Presidio. Since opening in June 2023, Dalida's has received accolades from this publication and a semifinalist nomination for the couple for Best Chef: California for the 2024 James Beard Awards, as well as an award Top chef Contribution by Laura Ozyilmaz that aired last spring. This is the restaurant's first year at San Francisco Restaurant Week, and if you have time for a luxurious lunch, the three-course option is worth considering. For the main course, guests can choose between lamb meatballs served with cherry tomato sauce and steamed freekeh; Ajika flatbread with mushrooms, leafy greens and Tulum cheese; or a $7 supplement for a crispy duck leg with Cretan carob noodles in Xinomavro red wine sauce, served with grilled endive and traditional pumpkin. The menu hasn't been released yet, but you can most likely expect a trash pie and perhaps an appetizer, such as the restaurant's “already famous” vegan garlic knots. Step into Bettola, the Italian casual spot and provisions shop, but this time you'll want to stay a while and check out the dinner menu rather than take your goods to go. Guests have the option to try the Porchetta or the equally hearty Lasagna alla Bolognese; Vegetarians, on the other hand, will most likely focus on the Zuppa di Fave e Cicorie or the broad bean and potato soup with sautéed dandelion. Reservations are possible at bettolasf.com. 343 Clement Street, San Francisco

Altamirano

Dinner: $65

If you've ever been curious to try chef Carlos Altamirano's eponymous Peruvian restaurant on Divisadero, which opened in September, now's your chance to get a taste of the menu. For the first course, there's a tempting Sophi sashimi option with ahi tuna tataki and passion fruit and Ferreñafe crab; For the second course, choose between the Pimentel leg of lamb, the Lomo Saltado or roasted beef tenderloin, or the Mantaro Road, made with fried shiitake mushrooms and trigotto in smoked aji amarillo sauce. If it's a warm evening, check out the back patio and piscos if you want to purchase a cocktail.

Cheers!

Eating Chapeau! in San Francisco.

Glodow Nead Communications

Even if you think you've visited this restaurant before in the last 25 years of its existence, you might want to visit again. Chapeau is now a multi-generational restaurant with the recent addition of chef Andrew Gardelle, son of owners Philippe and Ellen Gardelle. Andrew Gardelle has made his way through the kitchens of Spruce and Village Pub, but now he's at the Clement Street restaurant, adding new dishes to the seasonal French menu. There's no Restaurant Week menu yet, but you can expect a selection of solid, classic French dishes like the restaurant's Soupe à l'oignon, Salade Lyonnaise, and more. Reservations can be made via Chapeau's website. 126 Clement Street, San Francisco

The Wilderness

Dinner: $90

The Wild is a new restaurant from chefs Marc Zimmerman, Peggy Tan and Mark Lieuw that transitions from the Wagyu steakhouse menu of the previous Gozu to a restaurant “about reconnecting with nature.” Restaurant Week's menu focuses on seafood, with a choice of Monterey abalone with grilled kohlrabi and Madeira-soaked golden raisins or grilled mussels with white sweet potatoes for the second course and a Pacific Crudo option for the first course. Dinner ends with birch-scented ice cream with candy-mushroom caramel. Dinner reservations can be found on the Wild's website. 201 Spear Street, No. 120, San Francisco
