AUSTIN, Texas – Mississippi State football's slide continued Saturday.

The Bulldogs fell 35-13 to No. 2 Texas at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. It's the fourth straight loss for MSU (1-4, 0-2 SEC), which hasn't led in a game since Week 1.

Michael Van Buren Jr. started at quarterback for Blake Shapen, who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury last week. Redshirt freshman Chris Parson also played some. Texas (5-0, 1-0 SEC) started Arch Manning at quarterback for the second straight game to replace the injured Quinn Ewers.

Mississippi State has an open week before playing at Georgia on Saturday, October 12th.

Mississippi State vs. Texas score updates

Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond received a reverse for a 26-yard touchdown with 3:03 left in the game.

Van Buren cut across the middle for a 12-yard rushing touchdown with 6:12 to play.

Manning threw a perfect pass to DeAndre Moore Jr. on third down for another touchdown with 9:30 to play.

Arch Manning had a 26-yard rush but was tackled at the MSU 1-yard line. He scored three plays later on a quarterback dive on the final play of the third quarter.

Manning connected with DeAndre Moore Jr. on third down for a 49-yard touchdown with 29 seconds left in the second quarter.

Mississippi State runs the ball well and plays strong defense. Kyle Ferrie hit his second field goal of the half, a 31-yarder, with 1:56 left in the second quarter.

Mississippi State took advantage of a short field as Zakari Tillman partially blocked a punt.

The Longhorns needed just five plays to score their first score of the game. Jaydon Blue scored from one yard out with 6:06 left in the first quarter.
