Florence Pugh leads a gang of Marvel antiheroes

The first trailer for Disney's Thunderbolts begins with Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, a depressed assassin who reunites with her sloppy father Alexei (David Harbour).

She complains that her life is empty, even though she is busy with dangerous assassinations. But Yelena's life soon takes on meaning again, because in the action-packed teaser, her paths soon cross with a number of Marvel's shadiest characters.

“Everyone here has done bad things… So someone wants us gone,” Yelena says at one point in the trailer to her fellow antiheroes – including John Walker/US Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) – as they are threatened with elimination after completing previous jobs for an unknown villain.

“This could get messy,” Yelena warns her accomplices in the teaser for the action film with the slogan: “Be careful who you put together.”

The trailer also offers a look at Bob (Lewis Pullman) and Val (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) welcoming the Marvel team of the suddenly expendable.

Thunderbolts was hit by delays due to the writers' and actors' strikes last year, and the latest release date is set for May 2, 2025. With production following the labor disputes in Los Angeles, Geraldine Viswanathan replaced Ayo Edebiri and Top Shooter: Maverick Due to scheduling conflicts, actor Pullman replaced Steven Yeun in the superhero film.
