As already hinted, the Philadelphia Flyers will be a little thin on the roster tonight. The organization announced this Aleksei Kolosov will not be dressing tonight due to a lower body injury and Ivan Fedotov will start for the fourth time this season.

With Samuel Ersson With the Flyers still out with a lower body injury, they needed to find a backup goaltender for their game tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The role is filled by Kyle Konin with whom the team has signed an amateur test contract for today's game.

Konin has not competed in quite some time and there is no expectation that he will play tonight. He most recently played for the Grand Valley State Lakers in 2019-20, playing five games split between the university's DII and DIII club teams. Konin also served as an emergency backup netminder for the Lightning and St. Louis Blues, although he did not play.

  • The New York Islanders will still be weak on the blue line as Newsday's Andrew Gross reports defensemen Alexander Romanov And Mike Reilly will not be returning to the lineup tonight. Both blue-liners have not played since the team's Nov. 1 game against the Buffalo Sabers as they are both injured. Tonight is the third game without the pair and the Islanders have lost a total of eight games in the two games without Romanov and Reilly.
  • Pittsburgh Penguins play-by-play voice Josh Getzoff reports Kevin Hayes is considered commonplace with an upper body injury. This confirms that Hayes will not be in the lineup tonight when the Penguins take on the Carolina Hurricanes and should make him questionable for tomorrow's game against the Washington Capitals. Hayes' absence won't have a significant impact on the Penguins' lineup, as he averaged just 9:27 minutes of ice time in his first year with Pittsburgh.
  • We're just a few weeks away from announcing the full rosters for the 4-Nation Face-Off and one of the bigger topics of conversation revolves around Team Canada's goaltenders. ESPN's Kevin Weekes previously reported that he was the Capitals' goaltender Logan Thompson has put himself on Team Canada's radar with his solid start to the season. Thompson has yet to record a loss in six starts this season and has managed a save percentage of .903. Should he find a spot on Team Canada's roster, it would be Thompson's first international appearance since the 2022 IIHF World Championship.
