Former Pittsburgh Steelers WR steals the show for the Chiefs

PITTSBURGH – Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and second-round draft pick JuJu Smith-Schuster turned back time and showed the NFL world why the Kansas City Chiefs brought him back. In Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints, the headlines came after a 26-13 win against two players who made major strides in times of injury – running back Kareem Hunt and former Steelers Smith-Schuster.

Hunt and Smith-Schuster carried the Chiefs' offense en route to a prime-time victory, giving Kansas City a 5-0 lead to start the season. Hunt ran 27 times for 107 yards and a touchdown, while Smith-Schuster's night ended with seven balls for 130 yards.

Smith-Schuster has been waiting for the opportunity to show what's left in his game. After leaving the Steelers in 2022, he signed with the Chiefs, where he later won a Super Bowl. He then signed a three-year contract with the New England Patriots, but was released just one season later.

Due to struggles in the receiving game and a younger approach from the team, the Patriots decided to move on from Smith-Schuster this summer. There was talk of teams not showing interest due to a lack of confidence in the wideout, which led to the free agent getting another chance in Kansas City.

Before his Week 5 breakout, Smith-Schuster had just two catches for 17 yards. But when Rasheed Rice was sidelined with a torn ACL, the Chiefs needed someone to step in, and that role was quickly filled by the former Steeler.

The 27-year-old will look to continue his dominant role with the Chiefs as Kansas City looks for a third straight Super Bowl win.

As for Pittsburgh, they are trying to sort out their receiving game. With George Pickens seemingly on the bench against the Dallas Cowboys, there are major concerns about where this offense can go and how they can adjust their wide receiver room before it's too late.
