Game Preview: Hurricanes at Kraken

Game Preview: Hurricanes at Kraken

The Carolina Hurricanes secured their second win in as many games on Thursday night, fending off a furious rally from the Calgary Flames and defeating Alberta with a 4-2 win.

Tonight the Canes return to the United States to take on a 4-3-1 Seattle Kraken team at Climate Pledge Arena.

The Kraken have lost two straight games following a three-game winning streak, losing contests to the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets. So look forward to seeing the Kraken bounce back after a hot start was somewhat spoiled.

Jared McCann has been a hot commodity for Seattle, having put up 11 points in 8 games to start the season. Newly minted captain Jordan Eberle also started on the right foot with six goals, and Seattle's big free agent signing right back Brandon Montour has five points with a plus-3 rating.

The Kraken net has so far been split equally between Joey Daccord and Phillipp Grubauer, with both netkeepers appearing in four games. Daccord has a save percentage of .907, while Grubauer struggled at .881.

On the Carolina side, the Canes will be hoping for another performance from Jesperi Kotkaniemi, whose five assists in six games served as an offensive boon, supporting the performances of Sebastian Aho, Seth Jarvis and Martin Necas.

The altered forward lines looked like a positive change against Calgary, so we should expect Rod Brind'Amour to perhaps allow this for another game.

If the team stays true to their goalkeeping rotation, we will see Frederik Andersen between the goals tonight.
