Garrett Wilson posts fiery message after trading Jets' Davante Adams

Garrett Wilson is on fire.

Shortly after news broke Tuesday that the Jets were completing a trade for Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams, the Jets' third-year wideout posted an electrifying message on X.

“We have to go, and we have to do it NOW!” Wilson wrote shortly before Tuesday.

The Jets are in win-now mode, especially after Monday's crushing 23-20 home loss to the rival Bills that dropped Gang Green to 2-4 on the season.

Hours after the loss, a reinforcement was announced in the form of Adams, a six-time Pro Bowler.

In New York, Adams will join a talented, if crowded, wide receiver room that also includes Allen Lazard and Mike Williams, among others.

Wilson, the Jets' 10th overall pick in 2022, sits atop the depth chart and leads the receiving corps in both targets (67) and receptions (41), according to ESPN.

In Weeks 5 and 6, he and Rodgers connected 21 times for 208 yards and two touchdowns.

Wilson had eight receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown against the Bills.

The 24-year-old wideout wasn't the only Jet to publicly respond to Tuesday's bombshell.

During his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers was joined by Adams, his friend and former Packers teammate, in celebrating the news.

“Obviously very excited,” Rodgers said. “Davante is a phenomenal player and a dear friend.”

Rodgers and Adams first teamed up in 2015 when the Packers selected the wide receiver out of Fresno State with the 53rd overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Adams was traded to the Raiders in 2022 and signed a five-year, $141 million contract extension.

The Raiders receive a conditional third-round pick that could become a second-round pick depending on performance, and the trade is still pending.

The Jets will visit the Steelers in Week 7 on “Sunday Night Football.”
