Goldie Hawn reveals her secret to a long-term romance

Goldie Hawn, who was with her partner and fellow actor Kurt Russell for more than 40 years, was recently asked by E! News What it takes to have a long-lasting romance – and she gave a pretty piquant, if direct, answer.

“You've got to have good sex,” the star of 1992's “Death Becomes Her” told E! last week. “Because sex is something that connects and creates more belonging. People who have healthy sexual relationships tend to last much longer. But it's not just because of the performance, but also because of the warmth and intimacy it creates.” Then she jokingly added: “You have to be nice to each other every now and then.”

Although Some couples thrive in sexless or low-sex relationships – especially if the couple is asexual, has a low libido, or the couple places greater value on other aspects of their relationship – for many this is not the case.

In fact, the search term “sexless marriage” was the most searched marriage complaint on Google in 2015. reported data scientist Seth Stephens-Davidowitz. Sex experts also told HuffPost in 2017 that a big indicator that a couple won't make it long-term or in a marriage is when they stop having sex.

“Partners end up alienating each other on a very deep, very primal and sometimes emotional level.” Sari Coopera certified sex therapist, told HuffPost at the time. “Very often the couple not only avoids sex, but also avoids discussing the problem itself. This only leads to further feelings of isolation and loneliness for the partners.”

Although the “Banger Sisters” actress spoke about the importance of sex in her relationship, she had some reservations about it in “The school of greatness”Podcast in June.
