CBS is airing a sneak peek of the new series “The Summit” tonight.

In the broadcast, the broadcaster said: “16 “ordinary Americans embark on a once-in-a-lifetime journey through the treacherous New Zealand Alps to reach the top of a massive mountain in just 14 days to keep their share of the 1 million Dollar prize money that they carry in their backpacks.”

“The Summit” airs Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 9 p.m. on CBS.

  • LIVE STREAM: Fans can watch CBS without cable on fuboTV (free trial), DirecTV Stream (free trial), and Paramount+ (free trial).

In the sneak peek episode, CBS said: “After a medical emergency occurs just hours into the hike and the climbers encounter a dangerous obstacle while crossing a gorge, fears mount as the mountain ranger who escorts them on their way Journey follows, forcing the group to make their first brutal moral decision…”

Hosted by Manu Bennett.

The show will move to its regular time slot of 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, and will air after “Survivor.”

CBS describes “The Summit”: “These 16 strangers – from a Trader Joe's employee and mother of two to a 29-year-old trauma nurse to a 33-year-old Air Force member – are truly stepping into the unknown,” as they don't knew what they were signing up for and many of them had no climbing or camping experience.

“The result is a physical and mental test of their character in ways they never imagined possible as they attempt to reach the top of a distant, towering mountain.

“With their backpacks containing the same share of $1 million, the group must travel a grueling route in just 14 days to win the money they are carrying.

“But not everyone will make it, as these strangers must work together to overcome the dangerous terrain, relentless Antarctic winds, heartbreaking challenges and heartbreaking eliminations on the way to the summit.

“On this journey they are pursued by the 'Guardian of the Mountain', who surprises the hikers with brutal twists and forced decisions that complicate an already strenuous climb. “Morales and relationships are tested when they have to decide what to do when someone falls behind, because if the group doesn’t reach the ‘summit’ in time, all of the prize money will be lost.”
