Game 5 of the American League Division Series pits division rivals against each other: the Detroit Tigers face the Cleveland Guardians.

And the stakes couldn't be higher. The winner moves on; The loser goes home.

Despite not being home for the elimination game, the Tigers are in a comfortable situation. Tarik Skubal, their left-handed starter and likely AL Cy Young Award winner, will take the mound for five days after limiting the Guardians to three hits in seven scoreless innings.

After finally going 20 consecutive innings without scoring a run, the Guardians avoided elimination with a 5-4 win at Detroit on Thursday. David Fry played hero in the seventh inning with a two-out, two-run home run to erase a one-run deficit. Fry later executed a suicide squeeze that gave Brayan Rocchio an important insurance run.

The winner of Saturday's game advances to the AL Championship Series against the New York Yankees, who eliminated the Kansas City Royals in their ALDS in four games.
