How a Donald Trump presidency could change the Supreme Court

(NewsNation) — Donald Trump is projected to win the presidential election for a second time, meaning he will likely have the power to replace any Supreme Court justice who retires.

Trump will enter the White House with a Republican-controlled Senate, NewsNation/Decision Desk HQ plans.

Trump faced Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris in a close and highly contentious race.

With Trump's projected victory, Republicans will regain control of the White House four years after their loss to President Joe Biden in 2020.

At 78, Trump will be the oldest president ever elected to the White House. At 77, President Joe Biden was the oldest president ever elected.

As polls began to close on the East Coast, Trump held an early lead, although Democrats hoped this would prove to be a “red mirage.” With early victories in the swing states of Georgia and North Carolina, Pennsylvania gave him the final electoral votes, securing the 270 votes he needed to secure the presidency.
