I don't know about you, but 90% of the time I wake up in the morning starved. But the last thing I want to do is put a lot of effort into what I make for breakfast. (I save my extravagant brunch for the weekend!) To keep things simple, I prepare the same morning meal day after day. However, I never get bored because I've found the most breakfast upgrades at my home away from home (aka Trader Joe's)!

Every week I restock my supply with Trader Joe's Sweet Apple Sausage. The 12-ounce package contains five pieces of chicken sausage and costs $4.20. They are perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner. However, I usually eat them in the morning with a fried egg, sliced mozzarella cheese and my favorite bread, Schmidt/Old Tyme 647 Italian.

What Makes Trader Joe's Sweet Apple Sausage So Great

The article is not new. In fact, it was introduced in 2004, making it an original product in the famous budget grocery store. According to Trader Joe's website, it's a “customer favorite” and contains “large chunks of chopped apples, pure Vermont maple syrup, and a hint of cinnamon spice.” I can report from experience that it really does taste as delicious as it sounds, striking the perfect balance between sweet and savory.

Plus, I always feel good after eating. Because it's made from chicken, it has less fat than traditional pork sausage without sacrificing flavor. They come already cooked, so all you have to do is warm them up before treating yourself to what I can honestly say is the best chicken sausage I've ever tasted!

The best way to use Trader Joe's sweet apple sausage

If you want to incorporate the sausage into a lunch or dinner, try mixing it with farro and apples, as @traderjoes recommends on Instagram. Or you can do like I did and use it as a substitute for bacon in your breakfast sandwiches. (You won't miss the bacon!) Just make sure to butter the sausage before browning, cut the sandwich in half diagonally, and top with some hot sauce. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
