Is UCF football playing today? Knights schedule for Week 4 of college football

play

The UCF football team is off to a great start to the season. Next up are Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter and the Colorado Buffaloes.

But not today. The Knights enter their off week feeling good after winning their Big 12 opener at TCU and improving their record to 3-0.

This is the earliest week off UCF has had since 2021, when they also took a break in Week 4. This was Gus Malzahn's first season in Orlando, and it ended with a bowl win over in-state rival Florida. Coincidentally, the Knights and Gators are on another collision course once the calendar flips to October.

UCF is in good form right now. RJ Harvey looks to be one of the best running backs in the country, having rushed for 448 yards and eight touchdowns, good for third in the NCAA. Quarterback KJ Jefferson, who transferred from Arkansas before the season, is showing a good connection with top receiver Kobe Hudson, which was evident in UCF's comeback win over TCU.

UCF isn't in the polls yet, but with wins over upcoming opponents, that could change quickly. Here's what you need to know about the Knights' remaining schedule:

Why isn't there UCF football today?

UCF has the first of two weeks off today. The Knights have played the first three weeks of the season and join No. 1 Georgia, No. 4 Alabama and No. 6 Oregon, as well as a number of other schools, who have their first week off.

The good news for UCF fans is that they enter the most highly anticipated stretch of the season next week. Deion Sanders and Colorado come to Orlando in Week 5, bringing with them two Heisman contenders: quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter. And the following week, the Knights head to Gainesville to face Billy Napier (we think?) and the Florida Gators. Will freshman DJ Lagway and senior Graham Mertz still be splitting time at quarterback by then?

UCF will play for seven weeks straight until it heads west to face Big 12 newcomer Arizona State on Nov. 9. After that, the Knights will have a day off before playing their final two games of the regular season.
