It's still hard to believe that Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man noir show is real, but the first images from the set are amazing

I blogged about Nicolas Cage possibly reprising his role as Spider-Man Noir in a new Amazon Prime live-action series earlier this year and talked about how much potential I think this show could have, if done right… how strange it sounds.

But listen to me. You take a little bit of Sin City, you take a little bit of Dick Tracy, you do some fun Spidey-esque jokes and tricks and combine that with Nicolas Cage playing an old, cigarette-smoking, multiversal Depression-era detective Spider-Man (instead of just saying it in “Into The Spider-Verse”) and you have a certified hit on your hands. It's just a matter of hitting the mood and doing it right.

However, after seeing these set photos, I'm convinced they already nail the mood, and I'm about to fully commit to the series before I've even seen a teaser trailer.

Heck, for all I know the show might even be in black and white (I think that's how it should be!) and the trippy images might be half the appeal…

….but I DESPITE IT I think the suit and overall aesthetic look great from these crappy set photos alone! From what I understand, it will be completely separate from any other Spider-Man content, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are some references to Into the Spider-Verse in there. However, to avoid confusion, it's probably best to be its own thing – we've already seen plenty of Spider-Men running around the cinema.

As I mentioned in my last blog on the subject, Nicolas Cage has only recently gotten into television shows. Yes, you read that right – Nicolas Cage recently got into television shows. He apparently only watched movies before his son forced him to sit down and watch Breaking Bad a little over a year ago – and now he's caught the bug and is determined to make his first major TV series.

Could this be the great series that comes from this newfound passion for television?! I really hope it is.

Here's the best of Cage as Spider-Man Noir from Into the Spider-Verse…
