It's time for basketball: Spurs vs. Rockets

Welcome to the game thread. Veterans of the game thread know how we operate here, but for anyone new, we have a few rules. Our Community Guidelines Apply and basically say: Be cool, no personal attacks, don't troll, and don't curse too much.

The Spurs last saw the Rockets just over a week ago in a preseason contest where Pop rested almost everyone and Ime Udoka played in his regular season lineup. The result of this game was a predictable 22 point victory for the Space City forces.

Since this is a game that matters tonight, Pop will play in a regular lineup, although both Devin Vassell and Tre Jones will be out tonight due to injuries, which will keep Pop from playing with a five-man lineup most of the time (OK, three) to play the game. Victor Wembanyama will be hoping for a more productive game than in the opening game, where he seemed content to throw three points from the perimeter rather than go on the attack. Alperen Sengun is one of the more difficult defensive plays for Wemby so it will be interesting to see how he responds tonight. Whatever happens tonight, we'll be seeing this matchup two more times in the next few weeks, so it's something to watch.

Jeremy Sochan and Harrison Barnes were the two Spurs who had solid games against the Mavs and they will need to step up their game tonight for the Spurs to get their first win of the season. The Rockets are on their second night in a row, beating the Grizzlies 128-108 last night. Hopefully they're a little tired tonight from shooting so many baskets. Let's go, Spurs!

Match prediction:

Fred Van Vleet will shave his beard before the game and miss the game because security couldn't recognize him and wouldn't let him into the locker room.

A final word:

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
