Jaire Alexander is out, Carrington Valentine returns

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander is inactive for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, but Carrington Valentine is back in the lineup.

Alexander, receiver Christian Watson (ankle), defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt (ankle), offensive lineman Jordan Morgan (shoulder), defensive end Brenton Cox and offensive tackle Travis Glover are inactive.

According to Tracy Wolfson of CBS Sports, who will cover this, Alexander did a warm-up before the game Part of the show.

“Looked good in the warm-up but hopes to be back in the next game” She posted on X.

It's the second game in a row that the former All-Pro has been sidelined with a groin injury.

Alexander practiced in a limited capacity on Thursday and Friday and was questionable on Friday's injury report.

“He’s getting better, I’ll leave it at that,” coach Matt LaFleur said Friday.

Along with Alexander, )Valentine was questionable, but he is back in the lineup after missing the last two games with an ankle injury. He participated in limited training throughout the week.

Getting Valentine back is a big deal after the Packers struggled against the Vikings last week. Valentine, Eric Stokes and Keisean Nixon will have to deal with future Hall of Fame quarterback Matthew Stafford, but not his top two receivers with All-Pros Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua out due to injuries. Top tight end Tyler Higbee is also out.

The Packers ruled out Wyatt on Friday. That means Colby Wooden, a key defensive cog as a rookie last year, will be active for the first time since Week 1 and play his first defensive snaps since the preseason.

“Man, you just get a chance to play football again, bro.” Wooden said this week. “You miss that when you’re on the sidelines. You miss the camaraderie out there with your brothers. Yes, I'm excited, but it's different when you're out there playing with them, lining up with them and adjusting with them. It will be exciting for me. I’m playing football again.”

Watson was a doubt after suffering a serious ankle injury but not nearly as bad as it seemed at the moment.

Since Romeo Doubs is suspendedThe Packers will only have three of their most important passing weapons in receivers Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed as well as tight end Tucker Kraft.

“I’m always ready,” Wicks said. “When '9' dropped, the same thing happened last year. It's just time to step up and take on a bigger role until he gets back. I just have to take advantage of my chances.”

Can fellow tight end Luke Musgrave contribute after a disappointing start to the season? He was unable to train all week due to an ankle injury. A source said it would be a game-time decision and he will actually play. He scored against the Rams last year.
