Jimmy Kimmel expresses his disappointment over Trump's election victory: Terrible night

In a monologue on his late-night show, an emotional Jimmy Kimmel expressed his deep dismay at the recent results of the US presidential election, which saw Donald Trump emerge victorious. Fighting back tears, Kimmel described the evening as “the worst Taco Tuesday” of his entire life. He expressed frustration and concern over the election results.

Reflecting on the choice between the two candidates – Donald Trump and Kamala Harris – he explained: “We had a choice between a prosecutor and a criminal, and we chose the criminal to be president of the United States.” More than half of that Landes voted for the criminal who wants to pardon himself for his crimes. I suspect this election was not rigged.”

Kimmel continued to express sadness for those he believes will be most affected by the outcome, including women, children, immigrants and those who rely on health care, Social Security and other essential services.

“It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hard-working immigrants who make this country run,” he noted, listing those he fears will be affected by Trump's policies. The host raised concerns on topics ranging from climate change and journalism to justice and free speech. He continued: “It was a terrible night for everyone who voted against him and guess what? It was also a bad night for everyone who voted for him – you just don't realize it yet,” Kimmel said.

In a moment of cutting sarcasm, Kimmel noted that the night was “good” for figures like Russian President Vladimir Putin, but also for “polio” and “lovable billionaires like Elon Musk and the brothers in Silicon Valley.” He is targeting those he believes will benefit from the Trump administration.

Despite his sadness, Kimmel ended his speech with a note of resilience and respect for the democratic process.

He urged viewers to accept the election results but encouraged them to resist despair and any violent backlash. “I’m going to say something that Trump would never say if it wasn’t in his favor,” Kimmel said. “The people have voted and this is the decision we have made. In January Donald Trump becomes president and that's it; he won. That doesn’t mean we’re giving up, but it also doesn’t mean we’re storming the Capitol because we don’t like the outcome.”

He concluded by reflecting on the possible long-term impact of the election. “Maybe we will look back and realize that in the long run this is what we needed to wake up. Maybe the people who care so much about him need to find out how little he cares about them.”

In addition to Jimmy Kimmel, several other Hollywood stars, including Cardi B, Alec Baldwin, Christina Applegate and James Lee Curtis, expressed their disappointment with the results of the 2024 presidential election.
