Baltimore Ravens nickelback Arthur Maulet began the season on injured reserve, meaning he was officially ruled out until Week 5.

Maulet, 31, is recovering from knee arthroscopy and would not be able to play in Cincinnati until Oct. 6 at the earliest.

While it doesn't sound like he'll be returning for this particular game, it sounds like his return could come not too long after that.

“He looked good,” head coach John Harbaugh said.

“He seems to be in good shape. He can’t go out and train until next week, but we’ll see what it looks like next week.”

While he wasn't practicing with the rest of the team, Maulet worked with trainers at the practice facility.

When Maulet returns (the earliest could be Oct. 13 in the Beltway Rivalry against the Washington Commanders), he could bolster a beleaguered position group.

Given that Baltimore ranks last in the NFL in passing yards allowed by a wide margin, the secondary has taken a lot of criticism so far.

It would help if another key player was healthy and contributing (in this case, Maulet).
