Kamala Harris observes Tim Walz vibes with “No Fact Checking” JD Vance

Joe Biden (Dana Carvey) tunes in next to the vice president and the second gentleman with an ice cream cone in his hand.

Saturday Night LiveKamala Harris (Maya Rudolph) and Doug Emhoff (Andy Samberg) tuned in to the vice presidential debate and heard JD Vance begging the moderators not to fact-check him. The vice president and the second gentleman also balked after Tim Walz seemed too warm toward his Republican counterpart.

When asked by host Norah O'Donnell (Heidi Gardner) whether he would have voted to accept the Electoral College votes in the 2020 election, Vance (Bowen Yang) responded by stringing together claims, punctuated by the demand that the moderators shouldn't confront him.

“You know, Norah, it's rich to say that Donald Trump posed a threat to democracy when he peacefully relinquished power – we said no fact checking – and voluntarily – don't check this – boarded his plane without incident – “Don’t” — right after saving Obamacare — don’t check that,” he said, alluding to Vance whining about how anchors exposed his lies about Haitian immigrants.

Walz (Jim Gaffigan) also had some embarrassing moments. After praising Vance – one of several examples – the two simultaneously and dramatically said they “have a lot in common.” They then held their palms together in split screen – causing Harris to spit out her wine in frustration.

“Why are they friends!?” she exclaimed. “Why are they vibrating?”

On trend

Harris was then joined by Joe Biden (Dana Carvey) at the vice president's residence. As with last week's opening speech, there was no shortage of sentence fragments and non-continuations during the president's time on the couch. Holding an ice cream cone, Biden at one point spread his arms while telling Harris that she would make a great president — only to smear the food right on her chin.

“When you’re done, it’ll be my turn,” he suggested. “Biden 2028!”
