Kate Beckinsale's ballerina ponytail is perfectly playful yet grown-up

If last year's most memorable runways have taught us anything, it's that ballet flats are still the undisputed source of fashion and beauty inspiration. Designers like Christian Siriano, Sandy Liang and Simone Rocha are among those whose recent collections have helped usher in the “balletcore” trend — which isn't just limited to your wardrobe. Sporty ballerina buns and hair bows are just as popular as wearing flats and tulle skirts, and Kate Beckinsale's latest updo is a perfect example of how sophisticated such hairstyles can be. The ballerina ponytail she wore to Variety's Power Of Women 2024 in Los Angeles on October 24 was a very grown-up girl's fantasy.

The Canary Black The star has actually been sporting similar styles a lot lately, transforming her long, highlighted brunette hair into sleek, voluminous and retro-inspired hairstyles on and off the red carpet. But her latest version might be her sleekest yet. For the formal affair, hairstylist Aaron Light slicked the front sections of her hair back with a center part and secured the back section into a high ponytail. For a more seamless effect, he also wrapped the base of the pony in a strand of hair and swept the ends up for a sassy finish. But the star of the show was probably a chic black bow that secured the ponytail at the nape of Beckinsale's neck.

This beautifully sculpted hairstyle was the perfect complement to Beckinsale's corseted pink dress, straight from the Christian Siriano Spring 2024 runway show. Paired with transparent pink glossy lips and fresh, glowing skin by makeup artist Vittorio Masecchia Underworld The actress seemed ready to do pliés and pirouettes all the way down the red carpet — if it weren't for her 6-inch platform pumps, of course.

Beckinsale's updo proved that the spruced up ponytail is still a celeb favorite for formal occasions. Stars like Eva Longoria and Jennifer Lopez are also fans of this elevated take on classic sporty style. And Sydney Sweeney, Sarah Jessica Parker and Scarlett Johansson are joining the pretty pink actress in also signing on to the bow trend, so it seems it's still the most glamorous hair accessory you can wear right now.
