Kings vs. Sharks prediction, tips and NHL odds

The San Jose Sharks finally got their first win of the season last night, and now they host the Los Angeles Kings in a two-in-one rematch at SAP Center – with puck drop at 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Mikael Granlund has been leading the anemic offense in San Jose, and my Kings vs. Sharks predictions are for him to hit the ground running tonight.

My analysis
Mikael Granlund has put up impressive numbers in the first ten games of the season. He has five goals and eight assists for 13 points and 36 shots on goal. While these scoring numbers won't stay above a point-per-game pace for long, these scoring numbers have the potential to do so.

Granlund went without a shot in just one game and had fewer than three in another. Coincidentally, these games took place back to back on October 18th and 20th.

Additionally, Granlund had exactly three shots in two games, four shots twice, five shots three times, and scored a season-high six in his first meeting against the Los Angeles Kings.

The experienced center tends to take a lot of shot attempts and is able to put them into the net. He has had at least five shot attempts in four straight games, including seven, six and seven in the last three contests.

Granlund plays up front and is the San Jose Sharks' best power play unit. He averages nearly 22 minutes per game, and that number isn't going down any time soon.

The veteran has shown he can hold his own against the Kings, and given his numbers so far, I'm happy to take +132 odds, with the possibility of a ranking.
