Luke Bryan and Lainey Wilson discuss elements that make up the country's modern success

If you're looking for a true indicator of where country music stands in comparison to the moments to come, look no further than an event where Post Malone presented Lainey Wilson with her Milestone and Triple Crown Awards, while Jason Aldean presented Luke Bryan with his Lifting Lives Award trophy.

Aldean and Bryan have won a total of 19 ACM Awards over two decades of nominations.

Wilson's won eight trophies in four years.

Malone? He hasn't won any ACM Awards yet, but his best-selling country album, “F-1 Trillion,” was five days old when the ACM Honors were taped. He received one of the loudest ovations of the evening.

“It's not about the kilometers traveled, the people you come into contact with who understand your vision, or how the hits are sung to you. “All of those things make you feel like you can do anything in the world,” he told Wilson on stage at The Ryman as he accepted both trophies.

Considering the potential for women like her and Miranda Lambert — two of the most recent recipients of the ACM's Triple Crown Award, which recognizes wins for New Artist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year — to follow in their successful footsteps, she added The Tennessean added:

“The acceptance that more women can be recognized at this level is a path that has now been paved and can be further (extended),” she added that names including modern Triple Crown winners The Chicks and Carrie Underwood, have built a legacy that can be extended “for another 25 years.”

Regarding his charitable fundraising goal, the Lifting Lives victory, Bryan offered to The Tennessean that his farming interests – which led to his “Farm Tour,” which awarded nearly 100 college scholarships in nearly 15 years, made it him made it possible to build a charity that is “a” It's a given to make sure country fans know they can trust the hearts of the artists (they support).

Alan Jackson, the country's songwriting community celebrated

Alan Jackson, the 17-time ACM Award-winning neo-traditional country icon, performed at the event and received the ACM's Poets Award along with longtime Nashville songwriter Walt Aldridge.

Event hosts Jordan Davis and Carly Pearce honored Jackson with performances of “Chattahoochee” and “Don't Rock the Jukebox,” respectively. Eric Church also performed a version of Jackson's 1990 hit “Chasin' That Neon Rainbow.”

“Alan Jackson is an institution and an American treasure. “It’s an honor to be here and play for him,” Church said.

Given that many artists in the mainstream genre are engaging more than ever with the country's traditions and living legacies, both performances were well received.

Jackson's appearance was particularly notable in that it was one of the few he has made public since announcing in 2021 that he was suffering from Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, which profoundly affects his ability to maintain balance while standing has impaired.

Jessie Jo Dillon, who received her first ACM trophy for songwriter of the year, also excelled in songwriting at the event.

“Keeping my head down and working so hard for so long allows for hits, but nothing like the ones I have now,” said the co-writer behind Dan + Shay's billion-streamed “10,000 Hours” and Megan Moroney's “Girl.” . in the Mirror” and Jelly Roll’s chart-topper “Halfway to Hell.”

“During an unprecedented time in the lives of everyone in the country music industry, it is fulfilling to see how many country music fans – and people who have never enjoyed our genre (to this extent) – cry as they celebrate to our songs. the songwriter added to The Tennessean.

Stars honor legends with unique appearances

Outstanding, often unique performances are an integral part of the ACM Honors evening.

Shannon Sanders, Executive Director of Creative at BMI, was honored with more than just the ACM Lift Every Voice Award. Country performer Lee Ann Womack joined the Fisk Jubilee Singers (of which Sanders was once musical director) for a rousing performance of “Home.”

2023 Artist-Songwriter of the Year Chris Stapleton was honored by Jamey Johnson, who delivered a powerful rendition of “Whiskey and You,” his 2015 favorite.

In honor of the aforementioned Dillon, Keith Urban also performed a stripped-down version of his just-released “High” album single “Messed Up As Me,” which she co-wrote. Additionally, the Music Has Value-sponsored ACM Lifting Lives scholarship cycle was honored by Jackson Dean, who performed “Strong” by Glen Campbell while wearing a western-style sport coat that belonged to Glen Campbell.

Notably, Campbell had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease for about five years before his death in 2017.

ACM Icon honorees Trisha Yearwood and executive, musician and producer Tony Brown were celebrated as Lauren Alaina and Emmylou Harris performed a duet of Yearwood's “The Song Remembers When.” Vince Gill and Ashley McBryde also delivered a stunning version of “When I Call Your Name,” the first song Brown produced for Gill in 1989.

“It is an honor to sing one of Vince (Gill)’s most timeless songs at the Ryman Auditorium. “Vince's lead and Patty Loveless's harmony is a vocal combination that I've always loved, so singing Patty's parts to Vince's melody is pretty overwhelming,” said McBryde.
