Syracuse football

LeQuint Allen goes all in and Syracuse is a winner: Allen had a memorable performance in Syracuse's thrilling 44-41 overtime win over No. 25 UNLV, scoring four touchdowns and amassing 129 total yards. But that's not the beginning of telling the story. His 4th-and-1 run – somehow staying upright after contact behind the line of scrimmage – kept the Orange's hopes alive with just over a minute to play. He then scored the game-winning goal in overtime by driving a linebacker into the end zone, a play shown repeatedly on ESPN this morning. Perhaps most impressively, he did this with a leg injury that he rated an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. “I would die for my teammates out there if I could,” Allen said after the game. “I love my teammates.”

What's trending?

Men stole nearly $300,000 from two Syracuse ATMs: According to federal prosecutors, six men were part of the “jackpotting scheme” that targeted several banks and credit unions throughout New York State. The group went to Empower Federal Credit Union ATMs in Syracuse and withdrew $134,000 and $150,000, according to the indictment.

Crowne Plaza urged customers booking rooms to ignore reports of the hotel's closure: On Wednesday, the hotel closed without notice, leaving guests to make other arrangements. The hotel operators continued to accept reservations until Tuesday evening. Plans call for converting the 20-story hotel into 287 market-rate studio apartments.

'Pantsless' man evades police in Syracuse: Leslie Williams, wearing a T-shirt and boxer shorts, broke down a door and entered an apartment where he wasn't supposed to be, police said. Officers arrived and handcuffed him, but he slipped the handcuffs in front of his body and ran. Williams' escape sparked a “major police operation” including a helicopter.
