Lily Allen says her feet pictures make more money than Spotify streams

Whether you respect her hustle or not, Lily Allen will keep going.

A few months after signing up to OnlyFans to sell photos of her feet, the 39-year-old singer-songwriter told X-Friday (October 25) that her side hustle is more lucrative than the streams she does on one the largest music platform in the world. “Imagine if you were an artist and had almost 8 million monthly listeners on Spotify, but you made more money if 1,000 people subscribed to pictures of your feet,” she wrote.

Allen's remark came in response to someone who negatively commented on a post promoting her OnlyFans account. “Imagine being one of Europe's biggest pop stars/musicians and then being reduced to that,” the fan wrote, to which the “Smile” singer added, “Don't hate the player, hate the game.”

As of press time, the monthly subscription cost for Allen's OnlyFans page is $10. According to their numbers, Allen earns around $10,000 every month on the site. In 2023, the number of artists earning $10,000 or more in royalties from Spotify streams was approximately 66,000. And according to kworb.net, which is pretty accurate according to a source familiar with the situation, Allen's daily stream count on Spotify was about 851,623 as of October 17th. Assuming this figure is correct, the Music Streaming Royalty Calculator estimates that Spotify would have paid a total of $4,077 per day, with $3,239 spent on sound recordings for the copyright holder; $336 in mechanical royalties goes to the publisher, who pays the songwriter; and $503 in performance royalties going to performing rights organizations (ASCAP, BMI, etc.).

The musician started her feet photography business in July after learning that she had an extremely high score on WikiFeet, which revealed something about her Miss me? Podcast. “I have a lady who comes over and does my nails,” she told co-host Miquita Oliver at the time. “She said I could make a lot of money selling foot content on OnlyFans. And I say, 'Not no'.”

Shortly afterwards, Allen told how her husband – Stranger Things star David Harbor – reacted to her new venture. “Yes, he is, he thinks it’s great,” she continued Miss me? “He wasn't turned on at first, but he was like, 'Is this a guy for you?' And I thought to myself, 'No, that's not a pervert at all,' but maybe there's something about the power that's a little perverted to me.”
