This performance came when he was part of a duo with 2023 first-round draft pick Jahmyr Gibbs, who recorded 182 carries for 945 yards and 52 receptions for 316 yards with 11 total touchdowns in his rookie season. The pairing helped Detroit reach the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1991.

They were back at the start of the 2024 season. Gibbs has 361 yards and four scores on 65 touches, while Montgomery has 363 yards and a corresponding four touchdowns on his 72 touches through four games. After this success, Detroit has ensured that the two will continue to occupy the backfield together for years to come.

At the end of the bye week, Montgomery and Co. take on the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
