Man United and Sporting Lisbon agree on Ruben Amorim's start date, announcement could come tomorrow – Man United News and Transfer News

Ruben Amorim is expected to stay at Sporting Lisbon until just after the first week of November, reports talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.

Amorim is all but set to become Manchester United's next manager, but he certainly won't be in the dugout for Sunday's game against Chelsea, contrary to the club's wishes.

A report published by The Peoples Person said United were in talks with Sporting to persuade them to withdraw Amorim's notice period, which is believed to be weeks rather than days.

It was explained that Sporting wanted the Red Devils to spend more money to waive this contractual requirement.

A later report from Portugal said Amorim was willing to stay at the Estádio José Alvalade until the international break in November.

This has now been confirmed by Crook, including the fact that Amorim will be accompanied to Old Trafford by a small contingent of his assistant coaches, as recently revealed by a French news agency.

According to Crook via

“According to Portuguese sources, an official announcement could come as early as tomorrow.”

“Both Sporting and Manchester United declined to comment this evening.”

Crook notes that the coaches who will follow Amorim are Carlos Fernandes, Adélio Cândido and Jorge Vital.

The 39-year-old coach will also be supported at Old Trafford by sports scientists Paulo Barreira and Emanuel Ferro.

United and Sporting are believed to have reached the middle ground for Amorim at around £9.2m.

He is expected to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with the option of a further 12-month extension.

His first game as United manager will be against Kieran McKenna's Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
