Matthäus: “Bayern cannot have any pain threshold with Musiala!” | sport

Everyone is ready for the Masters Summit!

Rises on Saturday evening the big Bundesliga summit between Bayern and LeverkusenSky will broadcast from 5:30 p.m. with presenter Sebastian Hellmann (56) and experts Julia Simic (35) and Lothar Matthäus (63).

The record national player is already talking about the hit – and he's really hot!

Matthew: “They are the two best teams in Germany, everyone around the world is watching this game.” It’s still early in the season. But when it comes to the style of play and the joy of playing, Bayern currently has everything I missed. There's a lot to be said for Bavaria. Leverkusen still has some catching up to do. But I would also take a 4:4 straight away, that's what we would all like, also when it comes to the tension in the Bundesliga.

Matthäus currently sees a major change in coach Vincent Kompany (38) at Bayern compared to his predecessor Thomas Tuchel (50): “Kompany looks for discussions internally, not externally.” The players like that. Previously they were counted out and were too bad for Bayern Munich. If I had heard 'This isn't a Matthew game' earlier, I would have asked the coach if he had a tit. And Thomas Müller moderated it even better. There are players with eight championships like Kimmich and then I'm looking for a holding six! There are coaches who want to change everything, which is actually a good thing, I think Thomas Tuchel was one of those people. Like Alonso in Leverkusen, Kompany captured all the players and took them on his journey. I've often said that I miss the Mia-san-mia feeling, that wasn't FC Bayern, that family. They changed it, now the fans say: This is our FC Bayern again, it's fun to go to the stadium again.”

Matthäus often had quarrels with Tuchel last season, but now says: “The players now feel safe and will go through fire for the coach.” The players didn’t feel free with Thomas Tuchel. I have nothing against Tuchel at all, it's not about people having a different opinion at the table. But that didn't work with Bayern Munich. You knew that beforehand.”

Matthäus continued: “It's not like Bayern didn't see what problems they had in Dortmund, in Paris, what problems they had in Chelsea, despite winning the Champions League.” You don't throw coach three out Months after such a victory, something else must have happened. PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi told me: Lothar, I don't understand why Bayern are signing Thomas Tuchel. And that's a clear statement…”

Two stars are in particular focus: our national team buddies and super gamblers Jamal Musiala (21) and Florian Wirtz (21). Sky even has a special camera just on Musiala and Wirtz in the “Tactics Feed”.

Matthäus raves about both of them and advises Bayern to step on the gas when it comes to extending their contract soon: “Bayern cannot have any pain threshold with Musiala!” You have to go all in!”

Lothar explains: “You can encourage the sponsors to get involved, they get something out of it too.” When it comes to a player like that and the next period Bayern Munich. I also believe Bayern are going all in because they recognize Musiala's value. Not just in terms of sport, he is also the face of FC Bayern in the future. You actually have to give him a lifetime contract.”

Matthew continues: “He's a special player, that's why he's rightly hyped.” But what I also like is that he's so down-to-earth, a team player who always wants to improve. Not every dribble can work, but that didn’t always work with Messi or Maradona either.”

And what about Wirtz and Bayern? Matthew: “If you could add Wirtz – that would also be a difficult financial situation for FC Bayern.” It would be nice if both of them didn’t just play together in the national team. But there is a transfer fee, with Musiala probably just money. At Wirtz, 150 million is certainly a sum that has to be reckoned with. If it's possible, yes! That would of course be a statement and a signal to the competition. Especially to the International. But the Musiala deal does cost a lot, the money will be in the range of an annual salary.”
