Megyn Kelly slams Ellen DeGeneres for claiming she was forced out of Hollywood: 'They're doing a Netflix special'

Megyn Kelly and Rob Schneider's new Netflix comedy special helped viewers understand how they feel about Ellen DeGeneres' attempted comeback following the cancellation of her syndicated talk show.

On “The Megyn Kelly Show,” the conservative host brought up playing the victim card in commercials for DeGeneres' new special and claiming she was forced out of Hollywood. The Netflix special comes after her daytime show Ellen was canceled in part due to her toxic behavior on set.

“Of all the people on earth who feel sorry for themselves, Ellen shouldn't be on the list… As she speaks from that grandiose stage on Netflix,” Kelly said. “Hello, you haven’t been canceled if you do a Netflix special. For the previous one she got 20 million. I’m sure she’s fine.”

“They're going to let her back in because she's a lesbian, because she's a leftist, and because she hasn't beaten any of her sacred cows,” Kelly asserted, as she made sure to catch liberals broadly in their debate. “Nasty? That's their bread and butter.”

For his part, frequent Adam Sandler collaborator and “SNL” alum Schneider joked about how hard it is for other left-leaning women in Hollywood.

“Look at Oprah, how hard it is for her…Michelle Obama…Look how hard it is for women in America,” said the comedian, who has embraced his conservative politics. “It hurts them!”

In her special “For Your Approval,” DeGeneres spends the entire time unpacking her expulsion from Hollywood. She remembered the first headline she saw after everything fell apart: “How Ellen DeGeneres Became the Most Hated Person in America.”

“It's a terrible thing to say about someone, and to make it worse, there was no trophy, no awards banquet, nothing,” she joked. “Just the title. You know, I made a sash at home and wore it around me just to feel like I had something, you know?”

She also made it clear that she was not apologizing for her behavior. DeGeneres said she ended up being pigeonholed when she ended every episode of “Ellen” with the words “Be kind to each other.”

“I became a brand, a one-dimensional character who gave things away and danced up steps every day. “Do you know how hard it was to dance up the steps?” she joked. “Would a mean person dance up stairs? I do not believe that. If I had ended my show by saying, “Fuck yourself,” people would have been pleasantly surprised to find out I was nice.”

DeGeneres went on to point out the double standards of men and women – not just in Hollywood, but in life.

“We have all these unwritten rules based on the gender of acceptable behavior, who we are allowed to be and how we are allowed to act,” she said. “And when we don’t follow these rules, people feel uncomfortable. And when people feel uncomfortable, there are consequences. For those of you keeping count, this is the second time I’ve been kicked out of show business.”
