Memphis Basketball vs. Alabama live score updates, highlights, TV info

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Penny Hardaway didn't expect his Memphis basketball team to move mountains in its first exhibition game against North Carolina earlier this month.

His expectations are different for the Tigers' exhibition game against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Monday (7 p.m., ESPN+) at Propst Arena in Huntsville, Alabama.

“I’m going at full speed,” he said last week. “We were prepared (for North Carolina). We just didn't play the pick-and-roll properly, which we can do. We didn't communicate as much as we needed to. It's a new team. Look at all the coaches across the country, all the quiet teams are losing teams.

“So I ask them to talk. We won't hold your hand. We do all these exhibitions for a reason.”

Tyrese Hunter, PJ Haggerty and the rest of the Tigers will have their hands full against Nate Oats' Alabama squad, led by preseason All-American Mark Sears and transfer center Cliff Omoruyi.

True freshman guard Jared Harris will be in the Tigers' starting lineup against the Crimson Tide. He replaces senior Colby Rogers. Harris had four points and four steals against North Carolina on Oct. 15, while Rogers made 11 on 3-of-13 shooting. Memphis' remaining starters are Tyrese Hunter, PJ Haggerty, Nicholas Jourdain and Dain Dainja.

Memphis basketball forward Tyreek Smith will miss Monday's exhibition game against Alabama due to injury.

During the pregame radio show at Propst Arena, Tigers play-by-play man Dave Woloshin said Smith would not play after recently suffering an ankle injury during practice. Smith traveled to Huntsville with the Tigers and has been riding a stationary bike since the media was allowed into Propst Arena.
