Morgan Wallen's new single has been knocked out of the No. 1 spot by an unlikely contender

Morgan Wallen isn't just one of the biggest names in country music right now; He is one of the top stars in the American music industry. The genre favorite has accomplished some truly incredible feats, especially for someone with deep country roots. While he finds himself in an envious position when it comes to scoring hits and producing bestselling blockbusters, Wallen is currently hindered from quickly securing the No. 1 spot by an unlikely competitor.

At the time of writing, Wallen's new single “Love Somebody” is sitting at number 2 on the US iTunes charts. The country superstar's latest single is on the verge of going to No. 1, but right now someone else is selling just a little bit better than him.

Skillet currently leads the ranking of the best-selling titles on this platform in America. The Christian rock band's latest single, “Ash in the Wind,” shot straight to the top of the iTunes sales chart, showing that the group still has a sizable fan base.

“Ash in the Wind” is the third single from Skillet’s upcoming album revolution. This set, the band's twelfth, is set to release on November 1st and has already scored at least one win billboards Christian diagrams.

“Love Somebody” may be stuck in second place at the moment, but there's a good chance that Wallen's latest will end up at No. 1 on the iTunes rankings at some point. The singer is simply too popular to be beaten forever, and expectations for his upcoming project are incredibly high, so many people are probably interested in hearing what he's created this time around.

Wallen's latest single is the second sample from his upcoming album, which does not yet have a public title or release date. Not long ago, he ushered in the newest era of his career with “Lies Lies Lies,” which became a runaway hit. This song reached No. 7 on the Hot 100 this summer.

While he begins handing out tracks from his next album, Wallen is still finding success with several tracks unrelated to the project. The country artist fills four spots on the Hot 100 this week, and only one of them is his latest solo offering. In addition to “Lies Lies Lies,” which is still in the Top 20, Wallen is at No. 3 alongside Post Malone with their massive hit “I Had Some Help,” which landed Wallen at No. 1 for the second time of his career this year. He can also be found with “Cowgirls” with Ernest at number 12 and “Whiskey Whiskey” at number 57 alongside rapper Moneybagg Yo.
