Musk's jet lands in Florida after reports he will spend the night with Trump

  • Donald Trump mega-donor Elon Musk's private jet has landed in Florida.
  • He will reportedly spend election night with Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago.
  • Tesla's CEO has spent more than $130 million supporting Trump and the Republican Party.

Elon Musk's private jet has landed in Florida, where the billionaire will reportedly join Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago to watch the election results.

After flying from Austin to Cameron County, Texas — where SpaceX is located and Musk said he voted — Musk's private jet landed in West Palm Beach this afternoon, jet tracking service Jetspy reported.

The New York Times reported Tuesday, citing three sources with knowledge of Musk's schedule, that Musk planned to spend election night with Trump, who is hosting a private dinner for donors at his club. Trump is then expected to attend a larger watch event at the Palm Beach Convention Center.

Representatives for Musk and Trump's campaigns did not respond to confirmation requests from Business Insider.

Earlier in the day, Musk appeared to have taken steps to fly incognito as his private jet began taking advantage of a federal program that allows private jet owners to disguise their trips with a temporary aircraft registration number.

Musk first signed up for the free Privacy ICAO Aircraft Address program, also known as PIA, in 2022 through the Federal Aviation Administration. He stopped using the program later that year and briefly used the program again in June 2024.

Jack Sweeney, the student who gained popularity by tracking Musk's jets, was the first to point out Musk's new PIA on Tuesday.

Sweeney told Business Insider that Musk's jets were easy to identify because they continued to broadcast their call signs. Jet spotters like Sweeney can often evade celebrities' efforts to fly incognito by using context clues like social media posts and airports the planes head to.

Musk endorsed Trump in July and has since poured more than $130 million into the election to support the former president and the Republican Party, campaign filings show.

Most of that money — nearly $119 million — went to Musk's America PAC, a pro-Trump super PAC that has spent most of its money on customer acquisition and digital advertising. The PAC had also pledged to donate $1 million every day to a registered voter who signed a petition supporting free speech and the right to bear arms.

Musk, who is on his platform

Tesla and SpaceX, the companies led by Musk, rely on favorable federal regulations, subsidies and government contracts. Trump is expected to cut taxes on corporations, and his tax plan would likely favor the rich.

Trump has also indicated that he would give Musk an advisory role in the government and put him in charge of a “Department of Government Efficiency.”
