Nancy Pelosi appears tearful at Harris concession event

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi looked somber and had tears in her eyes as she waited for losing candidate Vice President Harris to give a concession speech on Wednesday.

When Pelosi arrived at Howard University on Wednesday afternoon, she was photographed greeting Harris supporters and appearing tearful.

In one particularly emotional picture, Pelosi was pouting as if on the verge of crying and had watery eyes. Other pictures showed Pelosi smiling and mingling at the event.

Harris' concession speech follows a historic neck-and-neck presidential race that ended with Trump winning early Wednesday morning. Although the election was expected to be a back-and-forth affair, the magnitude of Trump's victory shocked both sides of the political spectrum.

Pelosi and Trump have great hostility towards each other and regularly insult each other in public. During a speech in Grand Rapids, Michigan, this week, Trump described Pelosi as something that “starts with a B.”

“She's an evil, sick, crazy…” the Republican candidate said, pausing. “It starts with a B, but I won't say it. I want to say it.”

Pelosi has repeatedly mocked Trump in the past, claiming during a recent appearance on MSNBC that he suffers from “cognitive degeneration.”

“(Voters) need to know that he cannot remain president for four years if his brain is deteriorating so quickly… and they could vote for President Vance, which would be a terrible thing for our country,” Pelosi claimed.

In response, the Trump campaign insulted Pelosi in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“The only thing getting worse is Nancy Pelosi, a decrepit, corrupt politician that America can no longer tolerate,” said Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt. “She should return to the city of San Francisco, which she completely destroyed, and never return.”
