'Was told to wear...': Neelam Kothari reveals SHOCKING details about her divorce from Rishi Sethia

“Fabulous Lives vs. Bollywood Wives” hit the jackpot with its third season. The show is packed with juicy gossip, entertainment, love, laughter and lots of revelations. This season features a number of new members including Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Ranbir Kapoor's sister, as well as Shalini Passi and Kalyani Saha Chawla. In one of the episodes, Neelam, who is also a part of the show, talked about divorcing Rishi Sethia. She had tears in her eyes as she revealed that her daughter found out about her divorce online.

Talking to Ekta Kapoor, Neelam said, “I came home from work and Ahana was with her friends. They usually jump around, scream and yell. But this time there was absolute silence. Ahana came to me and asked, “Mom, you never told me that you were divorced.” I just died. I was at a loss; I was at a loss for words. I asked Ahana, “First of all, how do you know?” She said, “You're a celebrity and my friends and I kind of googled you.” The first thing that came up was that you were divorced. You were married.' The first thing that came to mind was that I didn’t want my daughter to find out this way.”

While speaking on such a sensitive topic, Neelam was visibly emotional and broke down a few minutes later. She revealed that after she got married, she had to move to another country, which caused her a lot of problems. “I was told to wear Indian clothes, avoid eating non-veg and not drink. I was fine with everything. I also changed my name – I think people do that – but changing my identity was something I wasn't comfortable with. I reached a point where I asked myself, 'How do I let this happen?' I used to be in a supermarket or going to lunch and someone would come up to me and ask, 'Are you Neelam, the actress?' I had to say no.”

This experience broke her heart and made her decide to leave. Neelam shared that she is now proud of her successful acting career and has appeared in 40 films over the years.
