One day before the change. Whatever the outcome of this year's election, we will see changes from within our local communities all the way up to the national level. Neighbors share how they are feeling before Election Day and what they want during this time of change.

“To be honest, I’m ready for it to be over because it was such a contentious race on every level,” said Cheryl Collier-Brown, a neighbor in northwest Tallahassee.

We are on the threshold of change and emotions are running high.

“Like everyone else, I’m nervous about this,” said Meta Calder, chair of the Natural Resources and Clean Energy Committee at the League of Women Voters. “The national elections are really a bit scary.”

Calder said she believes this will make people more invested in this election cycle.

“I’m also fascinated by how many people I meet can’t wait to vote,” Calder said.

With early voting ended in Leon County, data from the Supervisor of Elections Office shows 58.65% of active voters cast their ballots.

Based on those numbers, they projected that overall voter turnout would be in the high 70s to nearly 80 percent.

“We need to vote, we don’t need people abandoning us, we just need to go out deep in our souls and vote,” Collier-Brown said.

During this time of change, Collier-Brown said she wants everyone who is able to have their say.

“Don’t be tempted to stay home,” Collier-Brown said.

Calder said it's important to remember the power of your voice now.

“I hope that people remember that this democracy that we have here is a fragile thing,” Calder said. “It’s something we’re very proud of, it’s hard work and we shouldn’t throw it away.”

We want to remind you that your last chance to vote is Tuesday, November 5th, Election Day. Polling stations are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Your voter information card requires you to visit the polling place.
