New Saints WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling inactive against Chargers | Saints

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Earlier this week, the New Orleans Saints signed veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling to make up for the loss of speedster Rashid Shaheed.

The team is looking forward to seeing how he looks in a Saints uniform.

Valdes-Scantling is inactive for New Orleans' Week 8 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. New Orleans enters the game with Chris Olave, Bub Means, Mason Tipton, Jermaine Jackson and Equanimeous St. Brown as their wide receiver corps.

As expected, Saints quarterback Derek Carr will play his third straight game in street clothes on the sideline.

Carr has been officially listed as questionable for the second straight day as he continues to recover from an oblique injury sustained in the fourth quarter of the Saints' Week 5 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

New Orleans potentially could have used him as a third emergency quarterback, but it chose to leave him inactive. Rookie Spencer Rattler will make his third start in Carr's place against the Chargers.

The Saints had already waived receiver Cedrick Wilson (hip) and offensive guard Nick Saldiveri (shoulder) earlier this week. Joining them on the inactive list were Valdes-Scantling and rookie linebacker Jaylan Ford, tight end Dallin Holker and defensive tackle Khristian Boyd.
