NFL Power Rankings after Week 5: Will the Chiefs or Vikings be the last undefeated team?

NFL Power Rankings after Week 5: Will the Chiefs or Vikings be the last undefeated team?

It didn't take long for almost every team to suffer a loss this regular season. In just five weeks, there are only two teams left chasing the 1972 Miami Dolphins. The Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings are the two remaining 5-0 teams in the NFL. If we're wondering which team will be the last undefeated team, Minnesota is probably the better answer.

If the Vikings overcome an impending obstacle, it's possible they could go undefeated well into November. After a bye in Week 6, the Vikings host the Detroit Lions. This will be a tough challenge that could ultimately determine who wins the NFC North. If Minnesota wins? They have a number of other games in which they are favored: at the Rams, against the Colts, at the Jaguars, at the Titans. While no game in the NFL is a walk in the park, especially this season, it's possible that if the Vikings get past the Lions, they'll be 10-0 heading into a game at the Bears on November 24th.

The Chiefs' upcoming schedule is much more difficult. After their bye in Week 6, their schedule faces many challenges: at the 49ers, at the Raiders, against Buccaneers, against Broncos, at Bills. If they somehow get through this unscathed, they still have a few games left before mid-December: at the Panthers, against the Raiders, against the Chargers and at the Browns, but getting through the next five games without a loss will be a tall order .

Regardless of which team ends up going undefeated, both should consider themselves pretty lucky to have gotten this far without losing. No other team has done it. Here are the power rankings for Week 6 of the NFL season:
