The Cincinnati Bengals' 2024 season is already off to a disastrous start after falling to 0-3 against the Washington Commanders on Monday night and suffering another major setback on Tuesday.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Bengals offensive tackle Trent Brown, who was carted off the field Monday night with a knee injury, will undergo surgery to repair a season-ending torn patellar tendon. Rapoport added that Brown is “expected to make a full recovery.”

Brown suffered the injury in the second quarter of the game against the Commanders. After losing their right tackle, the Bengals lost 38-33 to a Washington team led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.

When asked about Brown's status after the game, Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor said, “It doesn't look good,” according to ESPN's Ben Baby.

Brown, a 10-year veteran, signed a one-year deal with the Bengals last offseason after spending the previous three years with the New England Patriots. He was part of New England's Super Bowl LIII-winning team and earned his only Pro Bowl selection in 2019 while playing for the Las Vegas Raiders.

After Brown left the game on Monday, the Bengals replaced him with Amarius Mims, the No. 18 pick in 2024. It was the Georgia native's NFL debut after missing the first two games of the season while rehabbing a chest injury suffered in Cincinnati's season opener. Baby noted that Mims was the team's starting right tackle before his injury.

The Bengals are hoping their recent losing streak will soon come to an end. Cincinnati entered the year with the goal of representing the AFC in the Super Bowl, so the team will need to get back on track quickly to avoid another lost year.

The Bengals will look to earn their first win of the season when they visit the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
