Nicole Scherzinger confirms she is a Trump supporter by commenting under Russell Brand's post

Fans suspect Nicole Scherzinger accidentally confirmed she supports Donald Trump.

Following Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election, Russell Brand posted a photo on Instagram wearing a red cap – similar to those worn by the president-elect and his supporters – with the caption “God bless America.”

But this MAGA-style hat had a twist: It was embroidered with the words “Make Jesus First Again.” In a now-deleted comment, Scherzinger enthusiastically asked, “Where can I get this hat!?””

Although she didn't officially like the post or endorse any candidate, Scherzinger's obvious admiration for the hat sparked quick backlash from her fans and other Instagram users. Many flooded the comments section to express their disapproval.

One person said: “Nicole sweetie no…”

Someone else said, “Are you serious, Nicole?” Congratulations on fucking 90% of your fan base, you predator enabler.”

Last year, Brand was accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse since the height of his career, leading to a police investigation. Brand has firmly denied all allegations. Trump has also faced numerous allegations of sexual misconduct, and last May a New York jury found him liable for the sexual abuse of writer E. Jean Carroll. With both characters' histories under scrutiny, Scherzinger's comment under Brand's post struck a chord with her fan base.

The singer reportedly deleted the comment 24 hours later, but the damage may have already been done.

Scherzinger recently garnered attention for her critically acclaimed role in The Movie Sunset Blvd and was considered a candidate for the Tony Award for Best Actress. Some speculated that her comment could hurt her chances.

“Well, the Tony race for Best Actress has gotten a little less competitive.” Time out New York wrote theater critic Adam Feldman.

Meanwhile, one fan commented: “How to lose a Tony in under 30 characters.”

However, not all reactions were negative. Some fans suspected that her interest in the hat may have been based on her religious beliefs rather than political support.

“Is it possible that she is just a believer in Jesus? I really hope that’s the case,” defended one fan.

“I’m really disgusted,” another added. “I mean, if she believes in Jesus, that's fine, but it's clearly on a hat that looks like Trump, so that's suspicious…”

In an interview withThe GuardianScherzinger noted that she is a devout Catholic and mentioned that she goes to church several times a week.

Unlike Scherzinger, Brand has openly expressed his political views. In June, before President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and Vice President Kamala Harris stepped in, Brand expressed confusion about why “freedom-loving” Americans would choose Biden over Trump.

On his podcast Stay Free with Russell BrandHe expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of the US presidential election and criticized what he sees as liberal “snobbery, contempt and condemnation” of Trump supporters. Brand, a vocal critic of censorship, said he is “concerned” about how these attitudes contribute to what he calls the “weaponization of the legal system” against Trump's base.
