Ahead of a rally for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, former President Barack Obama attended a Black Voters for Harris event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Thursday, October 10. While addressing his supporters, the 63-year-old influential Democrat criticized the vice president's campaign for not being as passionate as he was during his run for the White House.

“We have never seen the same energy and turnout in every corner of our neighborhoods and communities as when I was a candidate,” Obama said. Although he didn't have much to do with Harris, he did have words for the black men in the crowd.

He questioned whether her actions were due to specific reasons, such as the fact that the Democratic presidential candidate was a woman. He dismissed those ideas, arguing that it was “unacceptable” for black men to support Donald Trump, regardless of their views on the issue.

“Part of it makes me think that you just don't feel comfortable with having a woman as president and that you're coming up with other alternatives and other reasons for it,” he continued.

Obama's address comes days after a Pennsylvania poll conducted by InsiderAdvantage showed Harris' Republican rival leading the state by two points as he gained momentum “with his numbers increasing or holding steady among independent, senior and African-American voters.” remained”. The pollster noted that African-American support for Kamala Harris had weakened somewhat, although the race remained close.

GOP leader on why black women aren't for Trump

On the other hand, Texas Rep. Wesley Hunt, who leads the GOP's Black Outreach campaign, previously admitted that he wasn't as confident about Black women in Trump's case because of their affinity for Harris. “With the election of Kamala Harris, I feel less confident about Black women than I do about President Trump because, quite frankly, that specific demographic bases their vote more based on identity. “Because Kamala Harris is a black woman, that’s a difficult audience for us,” he told the outlet.

However, when it came to their male counterparts' support for Trump, he claimed that the ex-POTUS “will have the highest black male vote in the history of any Republican president in modern history.”

Obama also denigrates Trump

Meanwhile, Obama continued to rail against men who viewed Harris as the weaker presidential candidate. “Are you thinking about sitting out or supporting someone who has denigrated you in the past because you believe that is a sign of strength because that is what it means to be a man? Degrading women? This is unacceptable.”

He also criticized Trump's behavior of “pulling people down and putting people down,” which he said many saw as a “sign of strength.” He replied: “I am here to tell you that this is now the real strength.”

Obama alluded to the fact that inflation has become a highly contentious issue under the Harris-Biden administration due to the COVID-19 pandemic, acknowledging why people are frustrated and “trying to mess things up.”

“I understand that people are frustrated and feel like we can do better… What I can't understand is why anyone would think that Donald Trump is going to shake things up in a way that's good for you, Pennsylvania , is.”

Obama finally landed his third dissent against Trump when he compared him to the late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. “You have the all-caps tweets, the chatter about crazy conspiracy theories, the two-hour speeches – word salad – it’s like Fidel Castro, on and on.”
